Born and raised in the Houston area, I am a proud TSU graduate and picked up the camera as a hobby in college as a way to get out of my shell. When I’m not behind the lens, I’m balancing life as a devoted husband, NASA Engineer at Johnson Space Center, and spending part of the year as a youth basketball coach. I’m a lover of sports, coffee, good bbq, and spending time with my lovely wife, family, and hyper-curious dog.

31:3 Photography is a dedicated wedding and portrait brand founded by Kevin Powell. Built on the philosophy of Jeremiah 31:3: “I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” This guiding principle signifies the belief that we should attempt to treat each other with that same love. 31:3 is defined by a commitment to capturing that love within us and delivering images that feel both sophisticated and deeply personal.

At a young age I always looked at old family pictures and could feel the love my family had for each other. It was a window to a time before me, but I still felt connected to those memories. I want to capture those significant moments in your life and help preserve an everlasting legacy for generations to come.
